Hey REader
Do you like Free Things?

Of course you do, you're a clever reader. A reader who found this website and my books by pure force of will. You've defied the very algorithmic gods, and now it's time to claim your prize:

THE CVF NEWSLETTER!!!

(Absolutely captivating announcer voice)

Lucky you. Without the official CVF newsletter, you'd be left to scrounge social media for updates about all the awesome stuff I'm doing. Now you get it delivered directly to your inbox!

I'm sure you're barely containing your excitement by now, so you better sit down for this next bit.

You also get a free ebook!

What are you waiting for?

Scared of a little horror?

No?

We can fix that.

What have you gotten yourself into?

Welcome brave reader! You've done it!

Wow.

Truly marvelous work, my friend. You really must tell me the story of how you found my secret lair.

But there's a Get in Touch page for that... right now, you're wondering where you are.

As I said, you've accomplished a marvelous feat. Finding my website despite my near-utter lack of advertising and proper SEO. My hat is off to you.

So, now that you're here, what are you looking for? Surely you've righteous cause for such a tedious quest.

Perhaps, you're a fellow writer seeking another set of horror fanatic eyes for your manuscript?

Might you even have a story to sell?

Perhaps, you're a reader, seeking to dive deeper into the darkest of places.

In any case, you belong here now.

With us.

Withuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithus.....

(exceedingly creepy whispers)

Please, promptly complete your initiation by joining the newsletter. Otherwise, there's no way I can stop Them from getting you.

You (probably) have twenty-four hours.

Love,

Clay Vermulm

So, What Else is on Here?

Glad I asked for you...

Surely, you were about to ask, right? Well, no need. I've taken care of your light work.

If you didn't already know this bit, I write horror and dark fantasy. The best way to keep up with what I'm doing right now is by joining the newsletter.  I update that far more often than my website copy. However you got here, thanks for coming and I hope you find something that can help you out on your reading and/or writing journey.

If you're here because you're already a reader, thank you so much. Nothing would be possible, and still less I do would matter if it weren't for you.

Aside from writing my own stuff, I also offer some writing services. Mainly I specialize in helping a story come together, digging through the narrative bones, and finding those story clues that will solve the mystery of your manuscript. If you're a fellow writer looking to elevate your work, get some honest consultation, or even collaborate, I'd love to hear from you. You can Get in Touch or check out the Services page at any time.

All whimsical tones of this website aside, I truly do want to thank you for being here. I look forward to working with some of you and connecting writer-to-reader with others.

Talk to you soon,

Clay

Well, that must be it then...

That, dear reader, is where you are gladly mistaken.

Aside from publishing fiction, editing, succumbing to the forces of evil, and full-time cat-dadding I also host a podcast alongside my brother Travis, Collin Pointon, and Jeremy Hudson.

It's called Fermented Fiction. Essentially, it's a genre fiction debate game/review podcast where we discuss the latest and greatest movies, shows, and books from the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy realms.

We also have a once-monthly Featured Author of the Month segment, in which we talk to peers from all levels of the genre writing communities.

And not only do we do all of that, but we drink beer too.

We know. Ok.

No need to tell us.

We are heroes.

If you're into podcasts, we have a lot of fun over there. We don't take ourselves too seriously and we pretty much never back down from a bit. If you're into that sort of vibe, we'd love to have you.

I have the honor to be your obedient servant,

C. Vermulm

Am I sensing a Pattern here?

That you are, this page just keeps on getting better, doesn't it?

Well, that's going to be a highly subjective answer. If you really like the way my words sound when your internal voice reads them, you can do some super deep diving on this site too. All you have to do is go to that More section at the top menu, click the arrow, and explore to your heart's content.

I'm not gonna link you to that one though. You'll have to work for it a little bit. That's what exploring is all about.

Finally, I'll mention that I have a few social media pages happening out there, as most humans do. You can find links to them at the bottom of every page. On Twitter, I'm pretty writing-focused. LinkedIn is for meeting editing and consulting clients and Instagram is where I'll be posting climbing and surfing pictures, occasional pictures of my cat, and lots of #bookstagram posts. If you're into that, feel free to follow me. Tell me this website sent you, and I'll be sure to follow back!

Also, please do complete you're initiation by joining my newsletter.  If the Them get you, its going to be a highly unpleasant experience. You will also die. I truly wouldn't wish it on anybody. Especially not someone like you. Someone who's...

With us.

Withuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithuswithus...

Who is this "Clay" guy?

If you are still scrolling down this page, then perhaps you are one of those people who likes a slice of author life with your fiction. If so, here is my bio:

Born on the frigid, windswept plains of Cut Bank, Montana, Clay has now set down proverbial stakes in the Pacific Northwest where he likes to climb rocks on the days it's not raining. For the other ninety-eight percent of the year, he enjoys writing, reading, and playing board games with his partner Deanna as his cat criticizes his every life decision from her carpeted tree palace.

Clay decided to turn his writing hobby into a writing career in November of 2020. Since then, he has written thousands of words, eight short stories, two novels, and his novella Crevasse, which was picked up by City Stone publishing in November 2021 (November is apparently a good month).

Aside from writing, Clay has also created and produced one season of his podcast Sinister Soup, climbed Half Dome in Yosemite Valley and gotten engaged to the love of his life (also in November, for the record). If you want to know more than that, you'll have to join his newsletter.
